Havana Nights.....

The evenings in Havana are everything your imagination conjures up.....the hot evening, music that passionately moves you, beautiful Cuban women primordially dancing to the rhythm of congas beating and the drinks that never seem to reach bottom no matter how much you sip.

My first night out a Tuesday was like a trail run. I had a quick bite to eat at the hotel around 8pm. I decided to hop in one of the numerous cabs at the hotel entrance to plaza Vijah to the cafe Taberna. The cafe Taberna is a bar restaurant, music venue that pays homage to the great Cuban singer Beny More. The place was packed wallWTO-wall with people. Without an advance reservation, I could not get into the club. There were people lined up with their noses pressed to the windows looking and listening to the band do its thing. I sat on the an outdoor chair enjoy the music and watched the street life around me...

About 11:30 the music ended and the place cleared out. I began a ritual that I would follow every Cuban night. I walked to the Plaza Cathedral to sit in an outdoor cafe that overlooked the beautifully lite up Cathedral. I order a cafe con leche and enjoy the romance of my first night in Havana.
